2019 – ΜΕΤΑdrasi, Action for Migration and Development
Support of the non-profit organization “METAdrasi, action for Migration and Development”, to meet the operational costs of the transit accommodation facilities on Chios. METAdrasi supports refugees in Greece by providing support to unaccompanied minors who have been separated from or have lost their parents. For this purpose, there are three transit accommodation facilities for unaccompanied minors on the islands of Chios and Samos, and in Athens. However, the constant flow of refugees is causing a steady increase in the number of unaccompanied children, and there is no room for them in the existing facilities. METAdrasi addressed the members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors requesting a grant for 90,000 euros to cover the operating costs of the transit facility on Chios, for the accommodation of about twenty children, for the year 2019. The members of the Board expressed their respect for the work of this charitable organization, which aims to help the weakest and most vulnerable population – unaccompanied children who find themselves in Greece as refugees – and agreed unanimously to provide the amount of 90,000 euros to meet the operational requirements of the transit facility on Chios.
