On Tuesday 22 March 2022, the inauguration of the “ARIADNI” Assisted Living Home of the Cerebral Palsy Greece / Open Door took place in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Mrs Domna Michaelidou.

The “ARIADNI” Assisted Living Home will accommodate 9 adults with severe physical disabilities, whose family circumstances make it difficult for them to stay at home, offering them warmth and security, and relieving their parents/legal guardians from the responsibility of their daily care.

The members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors responded to the request of the President of the Cerebral Palsy Greece / Open Door for partial funding of the project of building and equipping the Home with a grant of 100,000 euros.

The charitable foundation AURORA with the aim of supporting patients with haematological diseases – especially those who have undergone bone marrow transplant procedure – as well as supporting hospitals and research in the field of haematological cancer treatment, with the ultimate goal of making leukaemia and other haematological diseases 100% curable, has requested the Foundation’s support for the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Haematology Clinic-Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit of the “Evangelismos” General Hospital, with the purchase of a genetic analyser to replace the existing one which was obsolete. The members of the Board, expressing their appreciation for the work of AURORA in the field of healthcare, as well as the work of the General Hospital “The Evangelismos”, unanimously decided that the Foundation will donate to the General Hospital “The Evangelismos” a genetic analyzer worth approximately 140.000 € plus VAT to cover the above needs.

TITAN Group and P&A Canellopoulos Foundation jointly participate in the effort to address the fire crisis with a package of immediate and long-term actions totaling EUR 1,000,000.

Specifically, TITAN, in close and direct cooperation with local authorities, provides mobile equipment to the firefighting forces and the creation of firebreak zones. At the same time, it undertakes initiatives focusing on prevention and protection against forest fires and has €500,000 available for:

Converting 50 silo vehicles into water tanks and handing them over to local authorities.

Creation of open water tanks for the rapid refuelling of fire-fighting helicopters.

Implementation of sustainable programmes for the management and restoration of the natural environment of selected affected areas and for the prevention of future fires, in cooperation with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature and the Research Institute of Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems and Forest Products Technology.

Pavlos and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation will allocate €500,000 to initiatives that address the immediate consequences of this year’s fires. The needs and resources will be identified and allocated in consultation with the local authorities.

Grant to Cerebral Palsy Greece / Open Door to cover the cost of acquiring a specially designed bus for the safe transport of the residents of the “ARIADNI” Assisted Living Home.

Cerebral Palsy Greece / Open Door, founded in 1972, has unfailingly offered its invaluable services in the field of social care, offering daily education and rehabilitation to more than 240 children, adolescents and adults with cerebral palsy, while contributing to the removal of prejudices regarding people with disabilities and to the promotion of broader scientific knowledge on disability issues.

The members of the Board of Directors of the Foundation responded to the request of the President of the Society for the acquisition of the specially adapted bus by approving a grant of 75,000 euros. The Board expressed its respect for the Society’s public benefit work, which is in line with the Foundation’s goals of supporting and alleviating the financially disadvantaged.
