Birth of Paul Canellopoulos

Birth of Alexandra Lontou-Canellopoulos

1923

Paul Canellopoulos purchases the first two works of what will evolve into his rich collection: the 16th c., Byzantine-style icons of Panagia and St Nicholas.

1925

Paul Canellopoulos obtains a collector’s license and augments his private collection.

1941-1945

Paul Canellopoulos is appointed Director of the TITAN Cement Company, and later becomes its Managing Director (1941-1945),

1945

Marriage of Paul Canellopoulos and Alexandra Lontou

1972

Donation of the private collection of Paul Canellopoulos to the Greek State

1973

Paul Canellopoulos is awarded by the French Republic

1976

The Paul & Alexandra Canellopoulos Museum opens to the public

1976

July. Paul Canellopoulos is made a Grand Commander of the Order of the Phoenix by the President of the Hellenic Republic Constantinos Tsatsos

1979

December. Paul Canellopoulos is awarded by the Academy of Athens

Publication of the Book "Thoughts" of Paul Canellopoulos
