27.10.2015

Grant for the production of Creta Divina, a documentary for the promotion of Crete’s archaeological sites and museums. The documentary will include footage from Knossos, Phaestos, Zominthos and the Museum of Herakleion and is to be screened in many international festivals. Screenwriter and director: Fotis Konstantinidis.

The Foundation’s sponsorship of the documentary builds on the grant to Efi Sapouna-Sakellaraki in the memory of archaeologist Yannis Sakellarakis, for excavations at Zominthos, Crete.

An important archaeological site, Zominthos was a flourishing Minoan settlement (1900-1400 BC) on the Psiloritis Mountain. It was on the sacred route from the palace of Knossos to the Cave of Zeus. The excavations are carried out under the archaeologist Efi Sapouna-Sakellaraki.
