Photographing the pottery of the Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Museum

Grant to the Academy of Athens to cover the cost of photographing the pottery of the Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Museum for the publication on the Museum’s Attican black- and red-figure vessels. An express wish of Alexandra Canellopoulos, the publication which was approved by the Academy of Athens forms part of the international Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum.

Mr Angelos Zarkadas, Dr of Archaeology and archaeologist with the Canellopoulos Museum, was commissioned to write two volumes in the series on the black- and red-figure vessels in the Museum.

The Academy of Athens is a public law legal entity supervised by the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs, and comprises three sections: Sciences, Letters and Arts, Ethical and Political Sciences. Its main objective is to cultivate and promote the Sciences, Letters and Fine Arts as well as scientific study and research.

To this end, the Academy supports scientific research, participates in international scientific organizations, provides grants, issues publications and awards prizes and honorary distinctions.
