According to the Ministry of Culture and Sports, “The excavation and restoration work on Despotiko Island was carried out again this year, despite the difficult conditions and the measures imposed by the pandemic. The excavation focused on the area south of the mosque, where in 2020 a rectangular tank had been found a very short distance west of the shepherd’s paddock. This tank was found to be part of an organised and extensive water collection and treatment system.
