Grant to the Ephorate of Antiquity Dealers & Private Archaeological Collections of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for an event in the month of June, organised in collaboration with the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece.

The Ephorate of Antiquity Dealers & Private Archaeological Collections is a special regional department of the Ministry of Culture. Based in Athens, it is responsible for overseeing the antiquity dealers and private collections of ancient artefacts throughout Greece. Its main task is to monitor and supervise the archaeological material in the hands of private citizens and collectors or is traded through the legal antiquity dealers around the country with a view to preventing any illegal trading and exporting.

The Ephorate’s activities include cataloguing and photographing the ancient, Byzantine andpost-Byzantine objects, compiling scientific catalogues, creating digital archives of moveable relics and their owners, carrying out inspections and submitting reports to the competent boards on whether a license should be granted or not.
