Grant to the Initiative for Heritage Conservancy towards the implementation of the digitisation of the Eleusis monuments, in recognition of the importance of documenting and protecting the archaeological site and the monuments of Eleusis. The project is carried out by the “Initiative for Heritage Conservancy” on behalf of the 3rd Ephorate of Prehistoric & Classical Antiquities.
The non-profit “Initiative for Heritage Conservancy” was founded in November 2008 to promote the best practices in promoting, protecting and presenting the archaeological sites in Greece and internationally through research and education. The Initiative pursues these objectives through the thoroughly trained human resources in Greece, training at all levels, supporting research, facilitating access to information and establishing dialogue.
Since the summer of the Initiative is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. Its main supporter and one of the originators of the Initiative is Lloyd Cotsen, former chairman of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, a great benefactor of the Gennadius Library and one of California’s major benefactors in the field of culture. Since its inception, the “Initiative” had enjoyed the hands-on support of a large number of active citizens from Greece and abroad
