Kryoneri: Restoration Works Following the 2025 Wildfires

Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation and TITAN are implementing anti-erosion interventions to protect and support the area’s natural regeneration.

Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation and TITAN are jointly undertaking, through their donation, the implementation of anti-erosion works in Kryoneri, an area affected by the devastating wildfires of summer 2025.

The works will cover approximately 1,000 stremmata of burned forest land and aim at the effective protection of the natural environment. These works will contribute to soil retention and protection, help limit erosion, and reduce the risks of flooding and future fires, while enabling the natural regeneration and restoration of the area.

The necessary permits for the smooth execution of the works were secured in cooperation with the Forest Services of Kapandriti, Parnitha, and Penteli.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Environment’s “Restoration Sponsor” scheme and continues a broader strategy of prevention and restoration actions implemented in recent years by the Foundation and TITAN. Following the 2021 wildfires, significant donations of equipment and vehicles were made to support the national recovery effort, while in 2023 the two organizations assumed the role of Restoration Sponsor in Western Attica.

With consistency and a strong sense of responsibility, Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation and TITAN continue to actively contribute to the protection and restoration of the natural environment.
